My Easter Resolutions

It is tradition to make a list of New Year’s Resolutions. But the Christmas Season is so hectic that there is never any quiet time to sit down and think. Holy Week, although an ultra-busy time in Baguio, still does provide time for reflection. Since we celebrate the Resurrection of Jesus Christ on Easter Sunday as the happiest of all Christian days, I feel it is a more appropriate occasion to make new promises, a fresh start of things. Plus it has less materialistic influences than the Christmas season. So here I go:

Lisa on Web Site Design and Blogging

Go Baguio 3 column design

This is my therapy: site design. For some folks, it’s blogging their thoughts and feelings. For me, it’s figuring out how to fit all information into a page, how to rank higher in the search engines, adding content. For some folks, code is poetry, so they probably are in their 20’s. For someone like me, who was sent to typing class (figure out my age), code is a mystery just waiting to be solved.

Mom, Handmaids of the Lord, Gawad Kalinga & Tony Meloto’s Oh-So-Wonderful Speech

My mom, Mitos, is a member of the Handmaids of the Lord (HOLD). She is sooo happy with this group. Happier than when she was an officer for many years of the Hotel & Restaurant Association of the Philippines (HRAP). Even if all her children are out of the house by now, even if she has no grandchildren, my mom is so not lonely. This group keeps her ultra busy travelling around the country and abroad, and I really appreciate that she’s in such good company.

Let me tell you about the Handmaids: I always refer to them as the “viuda (widowed), separada (separated), single mom version of Couples for Christ (CFC),” or sometimes “God’s MLM Network,” or “the women who cannot worship the Lord without eating.” Some of them are not separated (their husbands are just not in the CFC Community yet), some are not single moms but merely happily single and feel too mature for the activities of Singles for Christ.
