It’s About Time!

Written by lisa on Aug 30th, 2007 | Filed under: baguio, government & politics

Representative Mauricio Domogan, who is on his 6th year as congressman after having served 3 terms as Mayor of Baguio, is backing the City Council’s move for the reduction of the number of barangays from a whopping 129 to just 47. AFTER AT LEAST 15 YEARS IN PUBLIC OFFICE, he finally realizes that most barangays in Baguio City do not meet the Philippine Local Government Code’s requirement of having at least 5,000 inhabitants.

Burnham Park: Then And Now

Baguio’s Burnham Park: Then and Now
by Jonathan Best

Today, Burnham Park is facing severe challenges from commercial developers, ill-conceived municipal projects and poor maintenance.

When American architect Daniel Burnham first drew up his city plan for Baguio in 1904, he saved the very best piece of real estate for a public park. The route is shorter by about 15km, plus the bends are easier on your vehicle. Those cars outfitted with inclinometers can tell, for example, that when the road curves to the left, the road also tilts to the left, thus making it easier to navigate.

Life Gets in the Way of Blogging

Written by lisa on Aug 22nd, 2007 | Filed under: baguio, beyond baguio, the good life, travel / vacation

Pardon the long silence, please. What, you may ask, has gotten in the way of blogging? Hmmm, lemme see, how about we call it — LIFE? Isn’t it ironic? I take hundreds of photos, say of Malaysia, and then get too tired to edit them and publish a post about the fun trip my family took late in June 2007.
