Nobody Told Me About This!

It’s disconcerting how, when one speaks to Baguio residents about the goings on in City Hall and other questionable ‘development’ projects for the city, folks would invariably exclaim, “How come nobody told me about this?!”

Then I start thinking. “Why should you wait for anyone to tell you?” “How can you live your life so unconcerned about the roots of society’s ills?” “Why are you so accepting and defeated?” “Why aren’t there burning questions inside you just waiting to come out?”

Anna Nicole Smith & Sef Gonzales

When I pinged this blog at Technorati a few days ago, I was shocked to see that the No. 1 search term was Anna Nicole Smith (after all, she was no “hot young item” like Paris Hilton or Britney Spears) and was even more shocked to find out that it was because she had died unexpectedly at the age of 39. After a cursory reading of the news articles, what bothered me so much is that it seemed too coincidental that:

> mother and son (Daniel) would die under the same mysterious circumstances
> and ostensibly of the same cause (prescription drug overdose),
> within 5 months of each other,
> both dying at a relatively young age,
> both deaths still under investigation.
