Haunted Baguio: Spirit Quest at Nevada Square Revisited

Oh I love ghost stories. Given a choice between a good horror story and the X-Men, for example, I would choose the horror movie, no matter how much I lust after that yummy, yummy man, Hugh Jackman.
And since Halloween is fast approaching, let me recount to you an activity we held a few years ago, On October 26 & 27, 2002 with the Spirit Questors at Nevada Square. I had two restaurants operating there at that time and was worried that and so many of my business neighbors were closing shop.
Angry Ghosts at Nevada Square
One day, as I was preparing to open Atenara Cafe and Museum Shop in the old Biscotti and Cocolat location, I actually heard the lound clanging of kitchen utensils as if dropping to the floor in the stall beside mine. And I knew that it was a supernatural occurence because the store was boarded up and empty!
Then, a little later in the afternoon, I turned around from setting up my kitchen and saw, very briefly but in full color, a young woman seated on one of my cafe chairs. She had short hair and she was looking away from me. Then I blinked, and suddenly she was gone!
I found all this activity unusual because I am pretty manhid (impervious) to ghosts. I was living all alone and without a TV or radio in the Little Green House on Military Cut-off Road for six years, and all my staff and all my guests saw apparitions and indications of paranormal activity but I never did!
Oh but that house has so many stories that I will have to write about them in part two (or maybe next Halloween instead). For your information, that little Green House is the one currently being operated as Wood Nymph Korean restaurant, on the corner of Military Cut-off and the Greenwater Village access road. Although it is right beside Nevada Square, and in fact visible from the lower portion, this post will only talk about Nevada Square mostly.
My sister Rosanne, who is a personal friend and student (in a knitting subject — of all things! — at the Ateneo de Manila University) of Tony Perez, gave me his number and he agreed to come, accompanied by a majority of his Spirit Questors to do a ‘cleansing’ of Nevada Square and an Oracle Fest for Halloween.
I do not remember now who sponsored their accommodations, but if I remember correctly, a lot of coordination was done with Vangie Quinto, although she wasn’t running Jade Inn yet at that time. Tony required a vehicle so I sent my best buddy Nico Cawed to pick him up from his P. Tuazon, Quezon City residence. Of course, my restaurants took care of all the meals, in coordination with Red Lantern, which was owned by Endong Nevada.
We held the quest in the morning of 26 October 2002, and although a weekend, within the semestral break, too, which was already considered high season, with absolutely perfectly clear blue skies, we all noticed that not a single customer drove up to Nevada Square during the whole exercise, as if some unknown force were surrounded the place, protecting it from persons who were not supposed to be there.

Thanks for finally writing down the story you’ve orally told us before…I’m a sucker of ghost stories, eh.
Actually, I was clearing my photo files because the laptop is running out of hard disk space (thanks to digital photography where one can “fire” at will.
I saw these old photos. There were more of them originally (Tony Perez was given the full set) and because the Philippine Star does not carry Tony’s account (of course his version was way better than this) in its archives, I decided to store the photos and the stories here instead. Now I can delete them from the hard drive.
