‘Imported’ Baguio Brooms
Written by lisa on Sep 16th, 2007 | Filed under: beyond baguio

On my last trip down to Manila a few weeks ago, my sister and I took two young friends, college students from Baguio, to Divisoria. And much to our surprise, hanging from an industrial supply store right outside Meisic and 168 Malls were a bunch of brooms with ‘Baguio City’ painted on the handles.
When I asked a hawker how much each one cost, he said P75.00! When I said (in Tagalog of course), “Why so expensive?” he replied, “Because they come all the way from Baguio!”
Yeah right! Red China is more like it.
