Padyak Para sa Binhi ng Kordi

In an effort to promote re-growth in already deforested areas three riders, Doni Gonatice, Ben Muni and JP Alipio, will dedicate each kilometer that they will be able to cover in 24 hours via mountain bike towards establishing a seedling fund to plant new seedlings in the many denuded areas of the mountains.
We are encouraging everyone to help in the cause for the Cordillera Forests and would like to invite interested individuals, establishments, companies, and organizations to donate money or seedlings per kilometer that the riders will be able to cover in the span of 24 hours.
SEEDLING PLEDGE MECHANICS:
To make your pledge all you have to do is write the event organizers an IOU of how much you would like to pledge per kilometer –it can be as low as 1 peso or as high as 1000 pesos. You can even pledge seedlings instead of cash (i.e. one seedling per kilometer).
At the end of the 24 hour ride this coming November the riders will tally the total distance that the team will be able to cover and that will be multiplied by the pledge that you have promised. You will be sent a notice of how much your total pledge will be so you can officially donate the funds for the seedlings. Donations will be through Bank deposit and Globe G-cash or Seedlings will have to be delivered.
For those interested in making pledges and supporting the ride please send an email with the completed pledge form at: padyakbinhi@gmail.com

Hey guys,
In English, please email your pledge (cash amount or number of seedlings) to the email address above, which pledge they will collect from you after the event!
This is one notable project for the youth (or the not-so youth) and by the youth…I would suggest to JP and his gang to come up with an exponent of this noteworthy project….It can be called “Piso Para sa Binhi”. Instead of pledges, the group may also distribute coin banks in major establishments in the region. Although, this might seem to be not a new concept, this can help them with the resources that they need for their advocacy…indeed, good ideas come from the young minds of the region…
Good suggestion, Mojo Potato.
You can also give your suggestions in their multiply blog. There are also those who pledge Php1.00 per kilometer that the guys will traverse during the activity.
Hi Lisa,
Thanks for putting up our project on your site. We welcome the suggestions and maybe after the ride we can expand the project to include the suggestions your readers have given. For now we are continuing our training logging the kilometers on rough roads before the november 15 24 hour ride.
You can catch up with our training here: http://padyakparasabinhi.multiply.com/journal/item/17/One_Half_of_Crazy
Thanks
JP
Wonderful Initiative, JP!
Baguio and the Cordilleras need more of you! I haven’t decided on my particular pledge yet, but don’t worry, there’ll be one very soon.
Thanks Lisa,
Maybe you can sponsor our support vehicle? or maybe you know someone who would be willing to lend us a 4×4 pick up for the ride.
Cheers!
Hi JP,
Let me ask around. My vehicles are definitely not up to the task. And let me post this request separately in the Bulletin Board, as someone may just step up.
thanks.
If ever you find someone please don’t hesitate to send me an email. jpalipio@yahoo.com Hopefully we can find one by Nov. 9 since we plan to do an ocular of the route with the support crew on the 9th and 10th before the event itself on the 15th.
Thanks again.
Hi JP,
I posted this request also at BaguioWebInternational, an e-group, with your email address and am hoping someone will respond favorably. Exploring all avenues, you know…
Hi Lisa,
Just an update on the support car, we were already able to secure a support car courtesy of the Cordillera Green Network. Now what we need is Gas, anyone you know who own a gasoline station willing to give us a full tank plus an extra 20 liters (contingency) of diesel for the 24 hours?
Thanks again for the help.
Coming close to the event so were all pretty busy now, by the way we would like to invite you, your readers, and friends to come to the start of the ride to be held at the Benguet Provincial Capitol at 3pm on Nov. 15.
JP
After months of preparation, training, and lost calories (about 15lbs each) we finally got through the rough roads of the Cordillera and were able to cover 206.35 Kilometers in 24 hours! All that for new seedlings!
For those who have made pledges we will be sending you the bill in your email address and instructions on how to wire us your pledge within the week. For now you can share the adventure through our stories and images at the Padyak para sa Binhi site:
