“Would you believe it’s been one year already since the last Green Ride?” said Jim Ward as he biked up to my house from Bliss Cafe a few weeks ago to hand me the letter for the 2nd bike run.
With all the to-do about getting this site up and running again, I almost missed telling you about the wonderful initiative by Baguio cyclists to help the environment, encourage bike rides in the City of Pines and help keep our air clean.
The Green Ride 2009 happens in Baguio City tomorrow, Sundy, April 19, 2009 at 1:00 p.m.
The event is a reprise of last year’s successful 20km leisurely bike tour that actually made history because it was the first time bicycles were allowed inside Camp John Hay. Here’s the information as contained at the Bliss Cafe Multiply site, owned and maintained by Jim Ward who, along with the Daily Cycle Movement, is one of the prime movers of this event:
Join Baguio cyclists for our own local version of Manila’s famous ‘ Tour of the Fireflys . ‘ Here in Baguio it’s an approximately 20 kilometer ride (not a race) at a leisurely pace through the streets of Baguio guided by marshals for safety and support.
A ‘ No Helmet/No Ride ‘ Policy will be encouraged.
150 pesos gets you a unique ride tee shirt and loads of fun.
You may pre- register at Bliss Cafe or local bike shops or on ride day from 11-12:30 at the ride start @ UP campus.
The event starts and ends at the University of the Philippines (UP) Baguio campus and lasts for about 3 hours so expect to be done by 4:00 p.m.
Catch it tomorrow.
